Hot stone massage is an incredibly relaxing therapy using a combination of heated basalt stones and traditional massage moves to reduce muscular tension
The stones are heated in water and laid along key points on the body where they begin to warm the muscles and release tension, massage with smaller stones is then carried out alongside traditional swedish massage movements to further release muscular tension and break down muscular knots or scar tissue. The direct heat from the stones relaxes the muscles allowing manipulation of a greater intensity than with a regular massage, which makes the treatment particularily effective in helping with muscular back and shoulder pain
An appointment for a full massage will last for approximately 90 minutes, a back massage will last for 45 minutes, a consultation will be carried out beforehand to ensure that the treatment is suitable for you
If you are having a hot stone back massage it can either be carried out on a flat massage couch or on a massage chair depending on comfort
